Welcome to Orientation at Florida State University! New Nole Orientation is designed to help first-time college students successfully transition into the FSU community. For each section below, click the plus sign to view more information, including locations, session descriptions, and important reminders.
Orientation Day 1
5:30 - 7:00 p.m.Housing Check-In (not offered for August session)
Student, Residence Hall
- Housing Check-In is for students who opted into Orientation Housing.
- Families will not be able to join their student inside the Residence Hall upon checking in.
6:30 - 7:30 p.m.Orientation Check-In
Student and Family, Student Union
- During this time, students and families will check in for their orientation session on the First Floor. Families cannot check in for their student.
6:30 - 8:00 p.m.Experience TLH Fair and Family Mix & Mingle
Student and Family, Student Union - Lower Level
- Check out off-campus resources and businesses that can be beneficial for your student, learn more about the Tallahassee community, and meet other FSU families on the Lower Level.
7:45 - 9:00 p.m. Student Welcome and Student Torch Group

- In your first small group session with your Orientation Leader, you will start getting to know your classmates and prepare for the remainder of your Orientation session.
9:00 p.m.Noles at Night

- End your first day of orientation with silent disco, karaoke, or bowling and billiards! This is a great time to meet other new students and experience some of the unique features of our campus.
Orientation Day 2
7:30 - 8:30 a.m.Breakfast, Pick up your FSUCard, and Turn in Health Forms

- Students can pick up their FSUCard on the First Floor of the Student Union if they submitted their application. Students must have their physical ID with them to redeem their FSUCard.
- Students and families can meet with University Health Services representatives to submit Immunization forms and ask questions about Health Insurance.
- Breakfast will be available for students and families who opted into the Orientation Meal Plan on the Second Floor. Students and family members who requested dietary accommodations must speak to a member of the Legacy Catering staff.
- For students and families who did not opt into the Orientation Meal Plan, there are several dining options available on the First Floor of the Student Union.
8:30 - 9:00 a.m.Welcome

- Welcome to Florida State University and New Nole Orientation! This session allows students and families to partake in an FSU tradition, meet the Orientation Leaders, and see an overview of the day ahead.

- In this session, the Undergraduate Studies staff will discuss academic requirements, including CoreFSU and University graduation requirements, as well as how to appropriately support your student and help them succeed academically during their time at FSU.

1:00 - 1:30 p.m.Money Matters

- This session is presented by the Offices of Financial Aid and Student Business Services will help you understand the steps needed to make sure eligible aid is awarded, charges addressed, and disbursement take place in a timely fashion.
1:30 - 2:30 p.m.Meet the Colleges
Student and Family, Dismiss from Union Ballrooms
- Each academic college at Florida State University will provide more information about the degree programs, requirements, and opportunities they offer. An Orientation Leader will guide you to your college meeting location.
2:30 - 4:00 p.m.Resource Fair and Breakout Sessions

- Resource Fair
- During this time, walk around the various tables at the Resource Fair on the Lower Level, Mezzanine, and Second Floor to learn more about some of the many resources and opportunities available at FSU.
- Change Your Major
- Students wishing to change their major prior to attending academic advising on Day 3 should attend Change Your Major on the Lower Level.

- This session is presented by University Housing. They will cover everything you need to know about living on and off campus upon your return to FSU - Main Campus.
4:45 - 5:30 p.m.Student Torch Group (Student) and Family Matters (Family)

- In this small group session, you will learn about more FSU resources and tips and tricks from your Orientation Leader.
- Family Matters (Family)
- This session will share resources and ideas that you need as family members supporting your students through the transition to FSU.
5:30 - 6:00 p.m. Dinner

- Dinner will be available for students and families who opted into the Orientation Meal Plan on the Second Floor. Students and family members who requested dietary accommodations must speak to a member of the Legacy Catering staff.

7:00 p.m. Noles at Night
Askew Student Life Center and Leach Center
- After Day 2, enjoy a movie, Paint A Pot, campus tours, and some time at our on-campus gym! This is a great time to meet other new students and experience some of the unique features of our campus.
Orientation Day 3
7:30 a.m. Housing Checkout

- Students will check out of their Residence Hall and store their luggage.
7:30 - 8:45 a.m. Student Breakfast
Student, Suwannee Room
- Orientation Leaders will guide students to Suwannee Room for breakfast prior to starting their day.
8:30 - 9:30 a.m.Breakfast with the Orientation Leaders
Family, Askew Student Life Center
- Families will enjoy breakfast with the Orientation Leaders to have the chance to learn more about campus and life at FSU.
9:00 a.m. Countdown to Course Registration and Dismiss to Academic Advising
Student, Moore Auditorium
- An Orientation Leader will guide students to their academic advising location.
- Students will meet briefly with their academic advisor, who will recommend the best classes for them based on their program of study.
- Make sure to bring copies of any unofficial transcripts, and let your advisor know about any anticipated or earned AP/IB/AICE/CLEP credit.
- Ensure there are not any holds on your account that might prevent you from registering for classes.
- After advising, you will be able to register for your first semester of classes at FSU.
9:30 a.m. - NoonFamily Send-Off

- Enjoy presentations by campus partners like the Division of Student Affairs, The Career Center, Counseling & Psychological Services, and University Health Services.

- For any additional questions about registering for classes, students can visit our Course Registration Labs after advising. There will be professional staff available to support the registration process.
- This is a great space to register for classes if a student did not bring their laptop or tablet to register for classes. These labs are hosted in computer labs on campus.
