Orientation Dates

What are the dates of Orientation?

Orientation is held at different points of the year based on several factors:

  1. The term for which a student has been admitted to start at the University
  2. A student’s admissions classification (freshman, transfer)
  3. A student’s intended major
  4. Any special programs the student has been admitted to or special conditions for their admission

In general, Orientation sessions are offered:

Admit Type/Term Program Length Time of Year
Summer FTIC 3 day, overnight Late May/early June
Summer Transfer 1 day, no overnight Late March/early April
Fall FTIC 3 day, overnight June
Fall Transfer 1 day, no overnight Late March/early April/July/August
Spring FTIC/Transfer 1 day, no overnight October, November, January

Orientation sessions have a limited capacity of students allowed to attend each session. Space for each orientation session is available on a first come, first served basis.

Please note: All orientation fees are non-refundable. At minimum, students must pay the $35 base orientation fee in order to complete their reservation. Changes can be made to the reservation up to one week prior to your scheduled session. This includes changing your session date (pending availability), adding on orientation housing/dining, and adding guests. Changes to orientation housing/dining charges cannot be made on site. All payments must be made through the orientation registration system, which can be accessed through the myFSU portal (https://my.fsu.edu).

Once an orientation session has been filled, it will no longer appear as a reservation option. Session availability may change as sessions close due to reaching maximum capacity, or as spaces open up due to students changing their reservation to a different date or cancelling their admission to the University. Since session availability is always changing and based on the profile of an individual student, New Student & Family Programs does not provide a list of all Orientation sessions. To see which session dates are still available, you must log into the orientation reservation system through the myFSU portal.
