New Nole Orientation Schedule

Welcome to Orientation at Florida State University! New Nole Orientation is designed to help first-time college students successfully transition into the FSU community. For each section below, click the plus sign to view more information, including locations, session descriptions, and important reminders.

Orientation Day 1

5:30 p.m. Housing Check-in (Not offered for August Sessions)

Wildwood Hall

Housing check-in for students who opted into Orientation Overnight Accommodations. Check-in will be open until 7 p.m.

6:30 p.m. Orientation Check-in, Dinner on Your Own

Student Union

At check-in you will receive all of the materials you need for New Nole Orientation! Check-in will be open until 7:30 p.m. on the first floor of the Student Union.

7:45 p.m.Required Student Welcome and Torch Group

Union Ballrooms

In your first small group session with your Orientation Leader, you will start getting to know your classmates and prepare for the remainder of your Orientation session.

9 p.m. Noles at Night

Student Union

After your first Orientation day, there will be nighttime activities available for students. Join the Orientation Leaders and your fellow classmates for games, activities, or even bowling!

Orientation Day 2

7:30 a.m. Taking Care of Business

Student Union

Pick up your FSUCard and drop off required Health Forms to representatives from University Health Services.

Breakfast will be available for students and families (who opted into Orientation Dining). Students and family members who requested a dietary accommodation will be able to pick up their meal from the Registered Dietician table.

8:30 a.m.Welcome and Meet the Team

Union Ballrooms

Welcome to Florida State University! In this session you will meet the Orientation team and get a quick overview of what to expect for the day.

9 a.m. Money Matters

Union Ballrooms

Understanding the financial component of paying for college can be daunting. This tag-team session with The Offices of Financial Aid and Student Business Services will help you understand the steps needed to make sure eligible aid is awarded, charges addressed, and disbursement take place in a timely fashion. 

9:30 a.m. Housing and Dining

Union Ballrooms

Housing and Dining is a presentation by University Housing and Seminole Dining. They will cover everything you need to know about living on and off campus, dining locations, and what meal plans are available for you to purchase.

10:30 a.m. Student Torch Group

Student Union

In this small group session, you will learn about more FSU resources and tips and tricks from your Orientation Leader.

11:00 a.m. It's All Academic

Union Ballrooms

In this session, Undergraduate Studies staff will discuss academic requirements, including CoreFSU and University graduation requirements, as well as how to appropriately support your student and help them succeed academically during their time at FSU. 

Noon Lunch

Student Union

Lunch will be available for students and families (who opted into Orientation Dining). Students and family members who requested a dietary accommodation will be able to pick up their meal from the Registered Dietician table.

1 p.m. Stay Safe and Live Well

Union Ballroom E

In this session, the FSU Police Department and University Health Services will discuss resources and expectations to promote a safe and healthy campus community.

1:30 p.m. Meet the Colleges

Dismiss from Union Ballrooms

Each academic college at Florida State University will provide more information about the degree programs, requirements, and opportunities they offer. An Orientation Leader will guide you to your college meeting location.

2:30 p.m. Resource Fair and Breakout Sessions

Student Union

During this time, feel free to walk around the various tables to learn more about some of the many resources and opportunities available at FSU. There will also be special-interest breakout sessions during this time.

4 p.m. Experience FSU

Union Ballrooms

You will hear from Orientation Leaders and University staff about their experiences at FSU and get answers to your questions from an insider perspective.

4:45 p.m. Student Torch Group

Union Ballrooms

In this small group session, you will discuss how you can help make FSU a welcoming and supportive environment for all students.

5:30 p.m. Dinner

Student Union

Dinner will be available for students and families (who opted into Orientation Dining). Students and family members who requested a dietary accommodation will be able to pick up their meal from the Registered Dietician table. Dinner will stopped being served at 6:00 p.m.

7 p.m. Noles at Night

Askew Student Life Center and Leach Center

After your second Orientation day, there will be nighttime activities available for students in the Askew Student Life Center. Join the Orientation Leaders and your fellow classmates for games, "Paint-a-Pot," or even a movie! Orientation students are able to experience the Leach Center for free by presenting their orientation nametag at check-in.

Orientation Day 3

7:30 a.m. Housing Checkout

Wildhood Hall

Open until 9 a.m.

Students will check out of Wildwood and store their luggage during this time (remember to return your key packet!).

7:30 a.m. Student Breakfast

Suwannee Room

Orientation Leaders will guide students to Suwannee Room for breakfast. Breakfast for Orientation students will be available at the Suwanee Room dining hall. Breakfast will be served until 8:45 a.m.

9 a.m. Course Registration Overview

Moore Auditorium

In this session, you will get a few final reminders about advising and registration. An Orientation Leader will guide you to your advising and course registration location.

9:30 a.m. Dismiss to Advising

It's time to plan out your first semester at FSU! An Orientation Leader will guide you to your advising and course registration location, and your academic advisor will recommend the best classes for you based on your program of study. Make sure to bring copies of any unofficial transcripts, and let your advisor know about any anticipated or earned AP/IB/AICE/CLEP credit. Make sure you do not have any holds on your account that might prevent you from registering for classes (the Orientation hold will will be released during academic advising).

After advising, you will be able to register for your first semester of classes at FSU! Advisors will be available to assist you with any questions you may have.

11 a.m. Housing Luggage Pickup
