Family Orientation

About Family Orientation

Family Orientation is a great opportunity for parents and family members to gain information about Florida State University and learn about the resources, services, and programs available to both you and your student as you navigate the transition to Florida State. During your Orientation session, you will have the opportunity to participate in presentations, Q&A sessions, small groups, and panels with current students and staff.

Here are a few topics explored during Family Orientation:

  • Academic life at FSU
  • University Housing/off-campus living
  • On-campus dining
  • Financial Aid
  • Campus safety
  • Health and wellness services

To Register Family Members

Students can register family members for Family Orientation through their myFSU portal (https://my.fsu.edu/). The base cost per family member is $35, which covers educational sessions/materials and staff to help ensure a smooth transition and orientation experience. When registering guests, an additional dining charge may be assessed depending on the session. Attendees can opt out of the additional charge through the orientation registration system, but New Student & Family Programs highly recommends that guests eat meals on site during their Family Orientation session.

Please note: All orientation fees are non-refundable. Students can make changes to their reservation up to one week prior to their scheduled session. This includes changing their session date (pending availability), adding on orientation housing/dining, and adding guests. Changes to orientation housing/dining charges cannot be made on site. All payments must be made through the orientation registration system, which can be accessed through the myFSU portal.
